Simon's first band experience
was as a founder member of the "Fleet Valley Jazzmen" with whom he played
alto sax. Giants of the Camden Town jazz scene a few (!) years ago. |
 |
For many years he put his
sax aside in favour of the piano. Simon tickled the ivories in
bands and also gave the occasional classical recital. |
 |
A chance encounter with Tim in
the local butcher’s shop prompted him to take up the sax again. It
was shortly after this life-changing meeting that he joined Premium Banana
in a sax-playing capacity. |
 |
Simon plays piano and sax for
various local music events, has his own sax quartet, and plays sax with
the Swindon Concert Band. He has been involved for many years with the
Hungerford Town Show, as keyboard player, conductor and arranger. |
 |
Current plans include an
eight-hour piano recital in November 2006 in aid of Children in Need. As
he says, "it was either that or have my head shaved". Simon teaches piano
and sax in Ramsbury. |
 |
On joining Premium Banana,
Simon's main regret is that he can't join in the Dancing while
he's playing - at least not with any degree of dignity.
 |
Editor's note - forget the
dignity, get dancing! - especially with the radio mic. |

Simon's fan club includes his
wife Gill and son Alexander. |
